Junior pen pushers

Working with groups of 6-12 students over a period of 5 or 10 weeks, Junior Pen Pushers will benefit anyone – whether a budding Shakespeare or a little shaky! – with its focus on writing about your interests.

The work created by the group can be used as content for school websites or can even be turned into a school magazine, inspiring future writers within the school and giving students an opportunity to write with purpose.

All courses are delivered by published journalists and authors with countless years of experience.

Aimed at those who are progressing into employment or further education, Writing a Better Future works with learners to develop key literacy and communication skills.

Delivered to groups of between 6 and 12 people, this course can take place over 5 or 10 weeks. Topics covered include CV building, letter writing, interviewing techniques and researching.

A weekly workshop devised for anyone with an interest in writing, whether it be for pleasure or work.

This course is ideal for those keen to push their writing skills and who may be in need of a few ideas to set them on their way. This evening class runs for 5 weeks.

Our annual school writing competition is aimed at KS2 and 3 writers who are keen to see their name in print.

Focusing on the stories you would expect to see in a newspaper, we gladly accept submissions in the form of news reports, reviews, interviews and features. Entries are accepted from all schools and community groups, with winning entries featured in b**p, our youth newspaper.

b**p is a weekly group that sees young writers of all levels come together to share their passion for current affairs, pop culture and the written word. They create content for the online edition of b**p.

Write2 is our stand-alone resource that can be used by anyone to encourage literacy and communication. Developed so it can be utilised by any age group, schools and community groups can benefit from this module-driven programme which encompasses writing for an audience, review writing, interviewing, blogging and more.

Write2 allows your team of writers to take ownership of their project, whether it be a school magazine or content for a school website or community newsletter/paper. Our top tips and tricks on how to create this content along with countless resources to bring out the best in your team have been used successfully in a number of North East schools.
